KEVIN SHEPHERD: CARONICLE. 20th October. Apotheca.
Who are you?
I’m Kevin Shepherd a comic who originally hails from Bognor Regis but I left the candy floss and donkeys to purse my dream of becoming a stand up comedian. I moved to London and did a load of open spots (ten minute spots done for no money to small rooms of largely indifferent people) for years. Eventually through repetition I got better, in 2004 I left my day job and haven’t looked back since.
In 2009 I was asked to support if.comeddies nominees, Mickey Flanagan and Ivan Brackenbury on their national tours. This year I helped direct, write and edit the show ‘Ian D Montford – Spirit Comedium’. I’ve also tried my hand at acting, and was recently body double for Ralph Fiennes as Voldermort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
What’s your show about?
It’s the story of my life told via the medium of the cars I’ve owned. I’ve had a somewhat checkered past and have done some things I’m not proud of. In the show you’ll find out about them and some things that I’m very proud of and how I became the comedian I am today. I can honestly say that if you come and see the show you’ll leave knowing more about me than most of my friends, my wife, my kids and my parents.
Is this the first time you’ve played in Manchester?
Nope I’ve been here loads of times. I love performing here. The comedy circuit here is so warm and friendly it’s what the London circuit would be like if there weren’t so many c***s about. Hang on maybe I should be diplomatic. Yes I have performed here before.
How long have you been doing comedy?
Long enough that this question is embarrassing.
What are the 3 funniest words in the English language?
Kevin
Shepherd
Caronicle
Anything else you want to add?
You don’t need to have driven a car to enjoy my show you just need to have lived a life.
Show starts at 9:45PM.
Tickets are £5.
